We, at Perreo University, is a declaration to the commitment of expanding the study of reggaeton into academic and cultural spaces where its history, influence, and power can be fully recognized.

Founded by Katelina “La Gata” Eccleston—cultural critic, educator, and leading voice in reggaeton studies—Perreo 101 University is the premiere online academic platform dedicated to the exploration of reggaeton’s history, culture, and global impact. Our curriculum centers Afro-diasporic contributions, sociopolitical contexts, and the ways in which reggaeton has shaped identities and cultural expression across generations.

Perreo 101 University bridges academic rigor with cultural relevance, engaging fields such as Latin American Studies, Ethnomusicology, Gender & Sexuality, and Critical Race Studies. This is not only an educational initiative but also a cultural movement—an urgent project of preservation, analysis, and empowerment.

We invite you/r department to join us in this work. Collaboration may take the form of:

• Patronage — supporting the expansion of reggaeton studies as a legitimate and vital field.
• Campus Ambassadorship — empowering students to serve as liaisons, curators, and leaders who bring Perreo 101 into their campus communities through dialogue, events, and peer engagement.
